Updated in v1.10: 1) Added a resource tile to the center, 2) added a single empty tile adjacent to both strongholds and, 3) changed the map name Crater to Leningrad to differentiate it from the Crater single player map.

I don't like this map for several reasons:
1. Uncontested resources - it is almost impossible to capture the opponents resource tiles because your unit would have to survive next to the enemy stronghold first.
2. Very little space - this map does not let you avoid combat as there is usually no place to retreat to. I prefer to have the option to draw back from an unfavorable battle.
3. Bog candle on the central tile is painful

The 1st reason for map Coiled too... Zeppelin is useful and once in a seesaw match I got 1 extra DP at last turn by that so the game ends 61:59... So perhaps this map prefers Red too.

This map is plain boring... Usually ends 59:61 DP after 30 turns of camping...

I don't care for this map either, not only is it too claustrophobic but much of a game can be decided by luck. There isn't much of a chance to rearrange units or avoid combat until you can win battles. Without a way to redraw your starting hand a bad starting hand will lead to a loss.

How would you change the map?

In Single player there is exactly the same map but 1 square bigger to all directions.

That would at least give you some space to move more.

Maybe a res tile in the middle?

Yes, I was going to suggest the very same thing in my original post but forgot to - definitely a resource in the middle!

I mentioned this earlier some time on the chat. Create a tile that gives +2 dom points and put it in the middle to fight over. It doesn't have to do anything else.

I like this map because a win on it as DC using Sidh to get a few crucial turns of DPs is incredibly satisfying.

Mip's idea is interesting, similarly make all the blank tiles give 1DP each so the issue becomes one of total territorial dominance.
